Our school vision and values
At Marnel Infant School our vision is to be a happy, inclusive school where children want to come each day to reach their full potential, ensuring happy children aim to achieve high academic standards, progress for all and make memories for life.
At the heart of our school is our commitment to offering our pupils the best learning experiences and pastoral care possible.
We provide an environment which ensures a wide range of opportunities are provided for the academic and personal development of every child and one which stimulates and motivates children to achieve with success and enjoyment.
Our core values the ‘7 Rs’ are the ‘Golden Thread’ of our curriculum which is made clear to the children and the wider school community.

Reading
Our school is a friendly and exciting place to learn and develop the foundations of important life skills. Our dynamic teaching methods and aspirational ethos foster in our school community, of children and adults, a lifelong zest for learning, self-esteem and ‘can do’ attitude.
Our curriculum is inspiring and often extends outside the classroom with visits to museums, castles, beaches and beyond. We have well-equipped grounds which enhance our curriculum and enable pupils to…
-
Explore the natural world surrounding them and igniting new skills as part of our Forest School ethos.
-
Improve health, wellbeing and fitness through the use of our ‘Golden Mile’ track and gym equipment purchased with the school’s Sports Funding grant.
Marnel is a school that values a close partnership with parents/ carers. We understand that they are, and always will be, their child’s first teacher. We believe that this creation of a ‘School Community’ is fundamental to the success of our children.
All staff and governors are fully committed to the principle that all children are entitled to equality of opportunity and a quality education. Marnel Infant School is a happy inclusive school where children want to come every-day.
Childhood is precious and at Marnel it is our privilege to ensure children reach their full potential with high academic standards, progress for all regardless of their starting points and happy memories.
Inclusion
Marnel Infant School meets the holistic needs of all pupils. No matter what a child’s starting point is, our ordinarily available provision aims to meet the needs of all pupils. We do this through a range of methods including:
-
THRIVE – a therapeutic program designed to support the social and emotional development of children and young people.
-
Structured Tray Tasks – tasks that promote independence and a sense of accomplishment.
-
Sensory Circuits – sensory based movement activities that help children to achieve the ‘just right’ level of alertness they need to prepare themselves for the days learning
-
Language Link – a program that identifies and supports children in their speech, language and communication needs.
If you would like to discuss the specific needs of your child further you can contact Mrs Sayer (Monday-Wednesday) or Miss Langdon (Monday- Friday), our Inclusion Leads, via the admin office: adminoffice@marnel-inf.hants.sch.uk
The 7 Rs of Marnel
At Marnel the 7Rs are our problem solving tools that support the children to become independent in their learning and life. They help the children to stop, take a breath, identify and evaluate the problem and find an effective solution whilst using the tools around them.
We provide many extra learning opportunities for our children here at Marnel. Find out more about what makes Marnel a wonderful place to learn by visiting the Learning at Marnel page to find out about our extra curricular activities, clubs, wraparound care and learning opportunities.
