Joining our School

Prospective Parents

Here at Marnel Infant School we understand that making the 'right' choice for your child when they first start school or when you are moving to a new area is something that is extremely important to you as parents and we want to support you with that in any way that we can.

One of the things that we always say to parents is that you will know when you have chosen the right school for your child as it will just 'feel right'.

If your child is 4 or will turn 4 before 1st September 2026, they can start school in September 2026. Applications open on 1st November 2025 and close on Wednesday 15th January 2026.

Please apply at the link below.

In Year Applications and Appeals

If you are thinking of changing your child's school and sending them child to Marnel Infant School then please apply via Hantsweb using the following link:

You can apply for an in-year place up to four school weeks before the place is needed. If you are offered a place, the school will require your child to start at the school within four school weeks. Exceptionally, parents seeking an in-year place starting in September 2026 can apply from 1 May 2026. These applications will be considered from 8 June 2026.

In-year applications for Hampshire schools are processed by the schools who will aim to respond to your application in writing within 10 school days but must respond in no later than 15 school days.

If your child was refused a school place in Hampshire, you can lodge a formal appeal with the Independent Appeal Panel (IAP). The panel consists of three trained, independent volunteers who decide if your reasons for wanting a place outweigh the school's reasons for refusing it.
