Elephant Class 2021-2022

Welcome to Elephant Class.

 This term we are learning about the “Great Fire of London”. We will have the library on a Wednesday afternoon, P.E. on a Friday afternoon and Forest School on a Tuesday afternoon. Please bring your named PE kit to school every Monday, it will stay in school for the week and returned to you on Friday.

Year Two Curriculum Evening

This video is about what your child will be learning now they are in Year 2 and how you can help them at home.

Today we have had our Titanic Day. We went back in time to 1912 and experienced life as a passenger or crew member on the Titanic's maiden voyage.

This week we have been scientists during our science and outdoor learning week. We have used our observation skills when completing many different experiments.

This week we have been inspired by Clare Youngs during our Science and outdoor learning week. She has inspired us to create interesting sketches, craft and prints.

This week we have been getting creative and messy whilst outside. As part of our Science and outdoor learning week we have used a stick in many different ways.

We have enjoyed celebrating the Queen's Royal Jubilee. Thank you to all the adults that came and made our day even more special.

What a fantastic day! We flew to St Lucia to experience their music, art and culture.

Today we have learnt all about the charity Comic Relief and who they help support. We have had a great day taking part in challenges and designing our own red noses.

We have had an amazing time visiting the Living Rainforest. We wowed all the adults with our fantastic knowledge!

This week we have enjoyed learning all about Winnie the Witch as part of our World book day!

The Elephant's have had fun exploring our local Basing Wood's. We spotted birds, different types of trees and created dens.

As a school we have taken part in NSPCC's Number Day. We enjoyed raising money for a good cause whilst thinking about numbers!

What an exciting we we have had! This week we enjoyed our very own Great Fire of London day, where we made houses, cracked Samuel Pepys secret code and created colourful fire pictures.

This week we took part in Children in Need. We learnt all about the extraordinary work they do for children and as a school raised money and dressed in our pjs.

This week we have been expressing ourselves creatively during our firework themed arts week.

This week we had a visit from the Fire Service. They told us all about fire safety.

This week we have been thinking about what caused The Great Fire of London.

This week in Literacy we have been looking at The Queens Hat. To understand this book we created story maps.

This week we have enjoyed exploring our outside areas during our Forest School afternoon.

This week we began learning about The Great Fire of London. We took part in a work shop run by Tempest Fugit , where we learnt interesting facts and had fun.

This week has been learning about British Values. We have shared our ideas on what would make good rules and used this to help us write manifesto's for why we would make a good school councillor.
