Grasshopper Class 2023-2024

Welcome to the Grasshopper Class page.

Here you will find out about what we have been learning each week and when our P.E. and Forest School days are.

This week in Literacy, we have been learning about The Rainbow Fish! We have loved retelling the story with our friends.

We had a lovely last day of term celebrating Easter today!

This week we went back to Basing Wood and were so excited to see the frogspawn has turned into tadpoles!

We loved raising money for Red Nose Day today!

We loved dressing up in red to raise money for Red Nose Day!

This week we have been very busy; a troll came to school, we practised for the Cinderella Ball, we made repeated patterns and used the iPads in computing to make pictures!

We enjoyed using the outdoor gym equipment during discovery time this week!

Here we are performing our own poem, inspired by author Andy Seed! Our poem is called ‘I’m a pig’!

To end Book Week, we enjoyed dressing up as our favourite book characters on Friday! We had a brilliant day; creating and performing our own class poem, making bookworm bookmarks, creating silly sentences and much more!

Wow! What a brilliant first week back we have had! This week has been Book Week and we started the week meeting factual animal author, Andy Seed. We loved using his work to write about Deefur and Olive this week and we even managed to use Andy‘s tranamilator to translate their barks to words!

We had a brilliant Dinosuar Day this week to celebrate the end of our dinosaur topic!

We loved raising money for the NSPCC during number day today!

In our Music lessons, we have been learning about high and low pitch!

We have loved using the PE equipment in gymnastics this week!

In Geography, this week, we helped the palaeontologist find his missing dinosaurs by following a map around school!

This week we had our first trip to Basing Woods! The adults were all so proud of how sensible we were and we can’t wait to go again!

We had a great last day of term! We followed a tinsel trail that led us to some amazing reindeer, then to the story snug where we received a special letter from Father Christmas and then we went through the snow to meet a very special visitor!

This week we have been rehearsing for our Nativity and have been enjoying taking part in lots of Christmas activities! We also had a very cheeky visitor too...

Thai week we have been learning about China. We loved making our own Chinese dragon and dancing along to the music in the hall together!

On Friday we enjoyed our ‘Around the world’ dress up day!

We loved coming to school in our pyjamas this week to raise money for Children in Need!

This week we had a great Forest School session down in the woodland!

We had a brilliant Arts Week learning all about fireworks through art, music and dance!

We loved dressing up for our topic day as ‘people who help us’!

This week in Computing we learnt how to take a picture on the iPad!

This week we have been learning about Post Officers. We wrote some very special letters and then walked to the post box to post them!

What a great week we’ve had in Grasshopper Class. We have loved learning about Police officers and also enjoyed our very first Forest school session!

This week we had to help Firefighter Hippo put out a fire on the platform. We have loved learning and dressing up as firefighters!

We have had a great first week in Grasshopper Class!
