Squirrel Class 2019 -2020

Thank you for all of your hard work. We are all very proud of you and all that you have done. Have a super summer break and we will see lots of you in September.

   Friday 17th July

      Happy Friday Squirrels,

Well done all of you for posting so much amazing work on Seesaw yesterday. You had a great deal of fun with drawing your music annotation. Some of you chose feet, hands or even a pencil as your musical instrument and you showed how the music got louder and softer. For Maths you drew your own pirate maps and decided where the treasure will be.  You had some lovely memories of your time at Marnel Infant School which you told us about. Super work everybody.

So today is Friday and we would like you to try these two activities which are Literacy and Maths.  For Literacy today, we would like you to tell us a little more about your favourite memory either by a drawing or a collage or a video talking about it. We are looking forward to seeing or hearing more about your memories. In Maths today, we would like you to look at the map and explain whether WILF is correct or not.

Remember to look on the school website to see which class Tigger is going to this week.

Remember to send your teacher a list of how many times you have read so we can count up and see if you have achieved an award. Look on the website and see if you have achieved an award for reading this week. Well done to you all for all your achievements.

Enjoy your day today and post as many pictures or videos on Seesaw as you can so we can see what fun you have had and what you've been doing.

Remember to stay safe and look after yourselves, have fun and always listen carefully to everything your adult tells you.

We hope to see you soon and we miss you all.

Miss Spalding and Mrs Hudson :)

Welcome to Squirrel Class!

We are very excited to teach your children this year. If you have any questions please feel free to ask Miss Spalding or Mrs Hudson at the end of the day or write in your child’s reading diary!

A few reminders:

Our Library day is Tuesday

PE is on Thursdays

Forest school afternoon is on Friday

Please ensure that your child has the correct kit for these days. For PE they need a t-shirt, shorts and trainers and for forest school they need trousers, t-shirt, wellies and waterproofs.

We will be updating and adding lots of pictures of what we have been up to on this page too!

This week has been Book Week at Marnel and we have had a great week. The theme of the week was ‘Mary Poppins’ and we have enjoyed taking part in lots of Mary Poppins themed activities; including making our very own Mary Poppins inspired puppets and even meeting Mary herself! On Thursday, we dressed up as our favourite book characters and had a great book day! Finally, on Friday, we were lucky enough to welcome Paul Stickland (illustrator and author) to Marne. We learnt all about how he creates his own books and drawings. What a fantastic week!

Today was Great Fire of London outcome day. We have had fun building houses, making collages, cracking Samuel Pepys’ code and watching Pudding Lane burn down!

Today we came to school in our pyjamas to raise money for Children In Need! We have had lots of fun and have raised lots of money for a great cause.

This week in Literacy we are learning about Dick Whittington and his journey to London. Today we made a 'feelings alley' to think about how he would have felt at the beginning of the story and the end. We also did some 'hot seating' and asked Dick Whittington some questions too.

Welcome back! This week is very special because it is Arts Week and our theme is Space! Today we have made marbled planets, designed our very own planet and even been on an Astronaut Training Camp that we all passed! We can't wait to see what other exciting activities we will get to enjoy over the week!

On Friday we went to Basing Woods and loved jumping in big muddy puddles and looking at the seasonal changes!

This week we had a visit from Tracey who works for Hampshire Fire and Rescue. She told us all about how to stay safe in a fire and some of us even got the chanced to try on the firefighter outfits!

In science, we have been learning all about forces. We had lots of fun investigatingpushes and pulls!

We have had lots of fun starting to explore our new topic; The Great Fire of London! We went on a hunt with Miss Cox and even met Samuel Pepys himself!
