Hedgehog Class 2020-2021
Welcome to Hedgehog Class!
This term we are learning about World War 2; what do you already know about our topic?
We will have P.E on a Thursday afternoon and Forest School on a Tuesday afternoon. Please bring your PE kit to school every Monday, it will be left in school for the week.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask Miss Spalding via Seesaw or write in your child's reading diary.
Easter Celebrations
What a super end to the Spring term we have had! Today we celebrated Easter by wearing some super Easter Bonnets that we made at home, going on an Egg Hunt around school, having an 'eggciting' egg and spoon race and lots more fun! We are so proud of you Hedgehogs and hope you and your families have a restful and well deserved Easter break.
World War 2 Day
Today we went back in time to 1940 and we were evacuated to the countryside. Our teachers were a little different to 2021 and the classroom definitely looked different! We learnt all about what school would have been like in the war for children and had a super day. We all agreed that we prefer 2021 Hedgehog Class though!
Red Nose Day 2021
Today we have enjoyed dressing in red and wearing our red noses to raise money for Comic Relief. We have learnt all about where our money goes and what it is used for. As well as learning about the importance of our donations, we have enjoyed creating our very own red noses, taking part in a super Hedgehog Class talent show, playing 'pin the red nose on the panda' and much more. Thank you to everyone who has donated, it is very much appreciated :-)
World Book Day!
We had a super World Book Day this week. We dressed up as our favourite book characters and all looked fab! In school, a shell had been left on Miss Spalding's chair! It had a note on it and reminded her of her friend Henry the Hermit Crab from 'Sharing a shell' by Julia Donaldson. At home and in school we had lots of fun learning about hermit crabs, creating new shells for Henry, reading around the classroom, playing 'roll a story' and even a live story time with Miss Cox!
Home learning-Spring 2
This week has been Forest School Week. It has been super seeing all of the science, art and forest activities you have been completing at home and in school. It looks like everyone has enjoyed getting bird watching, creating woodland collages, planting seeds and many more exciting jobs! Well done Hedgehogs, a brilliant week for everyone!
Week 5
What a fantastic week we have all had! In Maths we have been learning how to divide and in Literacy we have been helping Maurice The Station Mouse who found a teddy which belonged to an evacuee. Well done Hedgehogs, how lucky we are to have such superstars in our class!
Week 4
This week has been another busy week at home and in school. We have been writing instructions for what to do if you hear the air raid siren, subtracting in Maths, enjoying getting muddy in our Forest School sessions and even had fun doing some exercise in PE. Well done Hedgehogs, Miss Spalding and Mrs Hudson are extremely proud of every single one of you (and your adults too!)
