Science Investigation

This week in Science we have completed our first investigation of Year 2. Unfortunately, RINT kept getting wet in the rain and we needed to investigate which material would be best to keep RINT dry. We explored different types of materials and made a prediction to show what we thought was going to happen. We talked about different ways to make sure this was a fair test. We found out that the tin foil and plastic bag would be a good material for RINT as they would keep him dry.

Number Bonds

This week in Maths we have focused on our number bonds. We are confident with our number bonds to 10 so we have been using these to help us find associated facts for number bonds to and within 20. We were very resilient like Tigger this week as we had to think about lots of different associated facts from just one number bond.

Exploring the story

In our Literacy lessons this week, we have explored different types of language and used our understanding of Billy and the Dragon to sequence a story. Mrs Shaw had a go at writing a setting description and we unpicked the language she used in order to consider whether there are any different words she could use. We worked well in our groups and we were able to give Mrs Shaw lots of ideas for her sentences.

Billy and the Dragon
We had a strange event happen in Zebra class this week! Someone had a party in our classroom and left behind their mess. As the week progressed, we found a book left behind called Billy snd the Dragon.

We created habitats in Forest School today!

We had a special visitor today!

Belonging Week

We started our first week in Year 2 by getting to know each other and learning about British Values. We reflected on the role of a School Councillor and considered what would be good qualities to have in this role. We enjoyed exploring our new classroom and experiencing our first week in Year 2.
