Mathematics at Marnel Infant School
At Marnel Infants we believe that mathematics teaches us how to make sense of the world around us through developing a child's ability to calculate, reason and solve problems. In our school we want to help children to understand and appreciate the mathematics that they will come across in their every day lives. A good understanding of number will allow children to access mathematics throughout their entire education.
To help children with their learning and understanding we use practical equipment in our day to day teaching allowing children to explore and find different ways to solve problems.
Every class use maths caddies to allow children access to the equipment they may need to complete their maths work and also access to other resources they may require in their classroom.
Every child in the school also has their own maths pack which includes apparatus that they may need on a day to day basis. This encourages the children to be independent in their learning and how they approach different pieces of maths work.
