Basing Woods

We finished Science and Outdoor Learning week with a walk to Basing Woods. We had a great time and enjoyed den building, bug hunting and having a look at the HUNDREDS of tadpoles in the pond!

Science and Outdoor Learning Week

We had a fun-filled time week with lots of Science investigations, forest school activities and Art, using the work of Claire Youngs as our inspiration.

Easter fun!

What an eggs-cellent way to finish the Spring term! We enjoyed lots of eggs-citing activities, including following clues left by the Easter Bunny to help us find a HUGE bucket full of chocolate eggs. Happy Easter everyone!

World War II Day

To conclude our World War II topic we travelled back in time and spent the day as evacuees during World War II. After making our gas masks we were evacuated to the countryside (squirrel classroom!), where we experienced what life was like in school during the 1940s. We were all relieved to hear when the war was over and we could return home to Zebra class!

Red Nose Day 2025

We had a fun Red Nose Day in Zebra Class, with everyone dressed in red. We learnt about who Comic Relief supports and then designed an anniversary cake to celebrate 40 years of Red Nose Day. We finished the day with some jokes at our own class Comedy Club. What a lot of fun!

Spring is in the air!

In Forest School this week we went on a nature walk to look for signs of Spring. There were lots of flowers growing, blossom on the trees and new leaves starting to appear too. We even found some frogspawn in the pond!

Book week fun!

We had an AMAZING book week! We were lucky enough to have the author and illustrator Chloe Inkpen visit, who inspired us to write our own stories and draw lots of pictures which we made into a class gallery. We also planned and made kites as part of our DT, which we then flew in the playground. Then we finished the week with a fun dress-up day, where we created our own scribble characters and thought about what adventures they might go on. What a fabulous week we had!

NSPCC Number Day!

We had great fun on Number Day! We had to complete 4 challenges to try and find out how tall Mrs Harmon was! The challenges involved lots of Maths knowledge, but also meant we had to work well as a class to complete each challenge. Thank you for all of your donations for the NSPCC charity.

Hockey skills

In PE this term we are learning lots of different ball sports. At the moment we are learning about Hockey and have been practising how to dribble the ball using hockey sticks.

Mud, glorious mud!

We enjoyed a very muddy Forest school session this week! It didn't stop us having fun and being creative though, as we worked together to make lots of wonderful recipes in the mud kitchen.

Feed the birds...

In Forest school this week we were thinking about the birds and how we can help them in the Winter. We made bird feeders to hang in the trees and also enjoyed some bird watching with the binoculars.

Paper aeroplanes...

This week we received a letter as a paper aeroplane which came flying through our classroom door! It was from someone called Emily but we don't know who that is. So we decided to write letters back and send them as paper aeroplanes back to her.

Christmas Fun!

We had so much fun on the last day of term! We had to follow a tinsel trail which led us to some amazing reindeers, who we enjoyed learning about. Then we carried on into the school where we were invited to visit Santa in his grotto. Thankfully we were all on the nice list so got a gift from him!

Castles Day

We enjoyed a fun Castles Day, re-enacting what life would have been like in a castle. We dressed up, enjoyed jousting and sewing, and had a banquet like they would have done in a castle.

Rude Prince Ronald!

We received a very rude email from Prince Ronald about the Year 2 teachers! In order to teach him some manners we thought about ways to behave and act politely, before writing a guide to send back to Prince Ronald.

Express Yourself!

As part of our Arts week we learnt about an artist called Georges Seurat, who used a painting technique called pointillism. We then had a go at creating our own paintings in the same style as him.

Children in Need

We had a lovely day supporting Children in Need in our pyjamas! We thought about questions to ask Pudsey, designed our own Gladiator and gave them a name, and had fun colouring Pudsey in discovery time.

Gymnastics

This week in PE we were practising our 5 shapes in gymnastics and then seeing how we could make these shapes on the apparatus.

We have been learning about symmetry in our Maths lessons this week

We had a fantastic time visiting Windsor Castle this week!

In our Geography lesson we worked in groups to decide on the best areas to build a castle!

This week we improved a setting description using conjunctions and expanded noun phrases.

We have been inferring how a character may feel by hot-seating in our literacy lesson. We used our best acting skills to pretend to be a character from Billy and the Dragon.

We had a great time exploring our topic of castles in Discovery Time

We enjoyed our first Forest School lesson.

We had a great first week in Zebra class.
